WasaCon has hired a new foreman, Otto Louko
The WasaCon team grew stronger in early August when civil engineer Otto Louko joined the company as a foreman. A native of South Ostrobothnia, Otto is returning to his home region after spending a few years in Tampere and the Helsinki metropolitan area.
The WasaCon team grew stronger in early August when civil engineer Otto Louko joined the company as a foreman. A native of South Ostrobothnia, Otto is returning to his home region after spending a few years in Tampere and the Helsinki metropolitan area.
I became familiar with the construction industry even before I began my engineering studies
Otto has both practical experience and supervisory skills in the construction industry. He first graduated as a house builder from Sedu in Seinäjoki in 2020 and then went on to study construction engineering at Tampere University of Applied Sciences. He graduated as a civil engineer in the spring of 2024 after specializing in construction production.
Otto has gained a wide range of work experience through various roles in the construction industry. Early in his career, he worked as a construction worker in Seinäjoki and on flooring projects for Wärtsilä’s Smart Technology Hub project in Vaasa, among other things.
In recent years, Otto has worked at SRV in a supervisory role. He has gained experience, among other things, from the large-scale alliance project for the new ward building at Jorvi Hospital in Espoo. Most recently, Otto worked on a residential high-rise project in Helsinki, where he was responsible for a wide range of interior finishing work.
Returning to his hometown brought WasaCon
The decision to join WasaCon was driven by a desire to return to South Ostrobothnia. Otto, a native of Ylistaro, had already decided with his girlfriend that they would look for his next job in his home region. A suitable opportunity presented itself at WasaCon.
The opportunity for professional growth also influenced his decision. Otto says he is motivated in his work by learning new things and working on a variety of projects. His goal is to continue expanding his expertise and develop into a skilled construction professional.
At WasaCon, Otto will begin working as a foreman at the Koskenkorva School construction site. His responsibilities will focus on supervising the interior finishing phase of the project.
"Right into the deep end," Otto chuckles as he gets started on his new job.
I spend my free time with trotting horses
As a counterbalance to his time on construction sites, Otto enjoys spending his free time with trotting horses. This hobby runs in the family, as his father owns a stable, and Otto himself co-owns three horses with his siblings and friends.
For Otto, harness racing is a multifaceted hobby: sometimes he goes on trips to races, sometimes he drives horses at home, and sometimes he watches the races from the stands. Just before WasaCon began, the Kuninkuusravit races were also on the agenda—this time, purely as a spectator.
