WasaCon is developing Ravilaakso’s first residential project in Vaasa
The construction company WasaCon Oy has been selected to build a residential apartment complex for Kiinteistö Oy Pikipruukki in the Ravilaakso district of Vaasa. The construction contract was signed on June 2, 2026, and construction will begin in June with earthwork.
In the first phase of the project, 39 state-subsidized rental apartments will be built in Ravilaakso. The project marks a significant step toward the development of a new residential area and supports the supply of affordable rental housing as well as socially sustainable urban development in Vaasa.
WasaCon is serving as the project’s lead implementer. For WasaCon, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026, the project is significant both regionally and from the perspective of the company’s own operations.
“It’s great to be able to develop Ravilaakso’s first residential project. This project is important to us in the Vaasa region, and we’re bringing our extensive experience in affordable, high-quality housing development to the table,” says Veikko Jokimäki, Director of WasaCon Oy.
Riitta Pulkka, CEO of Kiinteistö Oy Pikipruukki, emphasizes the project’s importance for the development of both the area and the city.
“The Ravilaakso project is of great strategic importance to us. It will pave the way for the construction of a new residential area to support Vaasa’s growth and, hopefully, bring much-needed confidence and stability at a time when the construction industry in Finland is facing exceptionally challenging times,” Pulkka notes.
Construction in Ravilaakso will proceed in phases over the coming years. The goal is to develop the area into a major new residential district in Vaasa, and the project now getting underway will be the first residential construction project in the area.
