WasaCon to carry out major renovation in Vaasa
WasaCon has been selected as the contractor for a major renovation of an apartment building at Kasarminkatu 14 in Vaasa.
The building, which was completed in 1959 and has 40 apartments and 4 commercial spaces, will undergo a major renovation and other basic improvements. The pipe renovation is a so-called traditional pipe renovation, where old pipes are replaced with new ones instead of coating the old ones.
The renovation will replace the entire HVAC system of the building, except for the internal electricity and heating lines inside the apartments. The project also includes the replacement of the building's drainage and basement waterproofing, the removal of asbestos and the fireproofing of the chimneys.
For the apartments, bathroom surfaces, doors and furniture will be replaced, as well as the electrical, plumbing and ventilation circuits in the kitchens. In parallel, the apartments will be fitted with aerial and IT/telecom systems.
In addition to the extensive renovation, a new sauna area will be built and the common washrooms and their equipment will be renewed. The courtyard will also be transformed and improved, with new bike and waste shelters, new yard structures, tiling, planting and yard furnishings.
The major and thorough renovation will take 7 months to complete.
"A traditional plumbing renovation is a major renovation, but beneficial for the building company and the residents. In a traditional plumbing renovation, old pipes are completely replaced with new ones, and at the same time the property's electrical, waterproofing, surface structures and ventilation are updated to meet today's regulations and requirements," says Ari Tyynismaa, Production Manager at WasaCon Oy.
"In addition to replacing the plumbing, the comprehensive renovation will increase the safety of electrical appliances, the quality of waterproofing and structures, and the overall comfort of living," Tyynismaa continues.
