WasaCon to build a carbon neutral terminal for DB Schenker in Vaasa

DB Schenker's Vaasa terminal, under construction in Vaasa, will become carbon neutral.

Construction work on DB Schenker's new terminal at the Nordic Logistics Center in Vaasa is progressing to the interior construction phase. With an investment of more than EUR 4 million, 3200 square metres of heated terminal and office space and 1000 square metres of unheated hall space will be built. DB Schenker will move into the new premises by the end of 2016.

The new terminal will be carbon neutral. The terminal's energy needs are met by renewable energy. Geothermal energy is used for heating and cooling. Electricity generation is based on hydropower, supplemented by solar energy.

The contractor for the new terminal is WasaCon, the construction company responsible for the design and construction of the site. The project was designed by WasaPlan.
