The new Scandic hotel in Vaasa, built by WasaCon, is at gable height. The inauguration ceremony was held at the construction site on Thursday 12.10.2017.
The event was attended by representatives of the developer, contractors, designers and users. Speeches were heard from every perspective and the active involvement of the user in the project was greatly appreciated by all.
Construction work on the Scandic Vaasa started in January 2017 and has progressed according to plan. The site will be completed and the opening ceremony will take place in spring 2018. The Scandic hotel is set to become a new landmark for Vaasa. The shape of the building and its all-glass façade have attracted considerable interest in the project.
The extension will be 3 500 brm² in size and will have 55 rooms, based on the Scandic City concept. The building will house the offices of Airaksinen Capital Oy and there will be 350 m² of vacant commercial space on the ground floor. The complex will also include 400 m² of new meeting and banqueting space in the old post house.
Airaksinen Capital Oy is the developer of the project and WasaCon Oy is the main contractor. WasaPlan Oy has acted as the main designer and handled the architectural and structural design of the project.
