WasaCon was the main contractor for the foundation works of EPV's Torkkola wind farm.
The Torkkolan wind farm is located south of the River Kyrön in Vähässäkyrö. The wind farm consists of 16 turbines with a total capacity of 52.8 MW.
WasaCon was responsible for the foundations of the wind farm. Approximately 10,000 m3 of concrete, or about 1,300 loads, were used for the wind farm. Up to 1 million kilos of steel were used for reinforcing the foundations.
A single 400 square metre sensor took 600-700 cubic metres of concrete. The foundation is cast in a curved hat-shaped form that extends three metres below ground level.
The pouring of foundations is a concentrated job. It took almost 24 hours to pour the foundations of one power plant. While one foundation was being cast, the next one was already being reinforced for casting.
WasaCon was the main contractor for the foundation works. Peikko Finland acted as foundation designer and installer of the reinforcement and Rudus as concrete supplier.
